MEP Subject Matter Expert (SME) - MEP Buildings on Railway Projects Birmingham | Hybrid Working £55 - £65 per hour | Inside IR35 3-Month Initial Contract + likely extensions An opportunity has arisen for an experienced MEP Subject Matter Expert to support the delivery of high-profile MEP Buildings serving the operation of the railway. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced project work within a main contractor environment, and supporting design delivery for Building Services Facilities and pumping stations for Railway Operations. The position offers hybrid working flexibility alongside the opportunity to join a busy team with a strong pipeline of ongoing work and potential extensions beyond the initial contract term. The Role Provide technical leadership across Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health disciplines, overseeing Senior Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. Lead technical reviews of MEP designs produced by designers, suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project requirements, relevant standards, statutory requirements and safety-in-design principles. Coordinate multidisciplinary design integration and resolve technical interfaces with architectural, civil/structural, railway systems, utilities and construction teams, ensuring buildability and alignment with installation, testing and commissioning requirements. Manage the MEP design assurance, review and approval process, coordinating with the Employer, Designer, CAT Checker and subcontractors/suppliers to achieve timely design completion. Lead technical meetings, O Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred 15+ years' MEP/building services engineering experience, ideally 20+ years on major infrastructure, complex buildings or pumping stations. Proven technical leadership of integrated MEP design, including management of senior mechanical and electrical engineers. Strong knowledge of electrical systems (HV/LV, power, Earthing
