Join our Tier 1 client's team as a Senior Quantity Surveyor and build something to be proud of. Based at the Westlakes office, the role requires occasional visits to site at Sellafield, Seascale, Cumbria.
We’re looking for an Engineering Construction Senior Quantity Surveyor ideally with experience in the nuclear or energy sector to manage commercial activities on complex industrial projects, including energy and utilities infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience working on large-scale engineering construction projects such as power generation, water treatment, energy infrastructure, or nuclear decommissioning. A good understanding of NEC contracts is essential.
You will be responsible for cost management, contract administration, and commercial reporting across multidisciplinary engineering projects, working closely with technical teams to manage interfaces and support successful project delivery. You will seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality.
Typically, ideally you will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB. You will have experience of managing a small team of less experienced commercial staff as well as mentoring others on their journey to becoming professionally qualified. You will maintain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The role is within Engineering Construction for nuclear waste processing and storage and nuclear decommissioning.
Who we’re looking for:
- Must be able to pass a DBS check as part of BPSS Security Clearance, this requires 5 years + of UK working experience
- Clean driving licence
- Can work in the UK on a permanent basis
- Good excel skills (including formulas and pivot tables)
- Experience of working on large scale engineering construction projects
- Ability to lead and mentor junior commercial staff, providing guidance and support
- Ability to analyse data
- Proactive, organised, dynamic, good communication skills
- Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Company’s governance requirements and maximises LEAN/digital opportunities
- Commercial Management and Administration
- NEC4 Experience, Subcontract procurement, Management of Subcontract packages
- Oversee change management including pricing compensation event
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly Cost and Value Reconciliation (CVR)
- Preparation of the Application for Payment, Maintain accurate cost forecasting and reporting
- Cost audit, Stakeholder management, Use of CEMAR
The following are essential:
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent knowledge
- MRCIS/Minsters/MCIOB or working towards them
- CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person)
