The Role

We are seeking a driven and strategic Event Director to lead the commercial growth of Lubricant Expo North America. This is a sales-focused leadership role suited to a commercially minded individual with strong B2B event experience, team management skills, and the ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Leadership
    • Set and deliver the commercial strategy aligned to company objectives.
    • Lead and coach a high-performing sales team.
    • Drive new revenue streams across sponsorship, content, partnerships, and digital.
  • Event Strategy & Growth
    • Shape and implement the event growth roadmap.
    • Build relationships with key stakeholders, sponsors, and partners.
    • Monitor industry trends and adjust positioning and pricing accordingly.
    • Develop and deliver strategic proposals to high-value prospects.
  • Content & Experience
    • Oversee conference and content development with our conference and marketing teams.
    • Innovate new features, formats, and networking opportunities to enhance event value.
  • Stakeholder & Industry Engagement
    • Represent the brand at trade shows, conferences, and key networking events.
    • Build relationships with senior leaders, media, and associations within the industry.
  • Sales & Business Development
    • Maintain a strong pipeline of leads using databases, referrals, and research.
    • Lead outbound campaigns across calls, email, LinkedIn, and video.
    • Own the entire sales cycle—from outreach to deal closure and client onboarding.
    • Manage CRM (Salesforce preferred), ensuring accurate reporting and forecasting.
  • Client Relationship Development
    • Consult and support clients in achieving their goals through event participation.
    • Deliver an outstanding onboarding experience for new customers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with marketing, content, and operations to align messaging and execution.
    • Feed market insights back into event planning and development.
  • Travel & Representation
    • Attend and represent Blueprint at industry events across the USA, Europe, and the Middle East.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven success as an Event Director or Senior Event Manager on major B2B events.
  • Strong P&L ownership and a history of exceeding commercial targets.
  • Experience managing and motivating sales teams.
  • Knowledge of sectors like lubricants, chemicals, or advanced manufacturing (advantageous).
  • Excellent cold-calling and telephone sales skills.
  • Confident in speaking with C-suite decision-makers.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, ideally Salesforce.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Highly organised, with excellent follow-up discipline.
