We are seeking an experienced Team Leader with a strong background in legal claims management to lead and develop a team of claims handlers, paralegals, or case managers. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving team performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, improving customer outcomes, and supporting the efficient progression of claims from instruction through to resolution.

This role requires a proactive leader who can motivate teams, manage operational performance, implement process improvements, and maintain high standards of client service within a fast-paced claims environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of claims professionals to achieve individual and team objectives.
    • Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, and coaching sessions.
    • Monitor productivity, quality, and service levels to ensure targets are achieved.
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team members.
    • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.
  • Claims Operations Management
    • Oversee the day-to-day management of claims and case progression.
    • Ensure claims are handled efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with company procedures.
    • Monitor caseload allocation and workload balancing across the team.
    • Provide guidance and support on complex, escalated, or high-value claims.
    • Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) and operational targets are consistently met.
  • Performance Management
    • Track and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) and management information.
    • Identify performance trends and implement corrective actions where necessary.
    • Produce regular performance reports for senior management.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance
    • Ensure all claims activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
    • Conduct file audits and quality reviews to maintain high standards of case handling.
    • Identify operational risks and implement appropriate controls.
    • Support internal audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Client and Stakeholder Management
    • Act as an escalation point for client complaints and complex enquiries.
    • Maintain strong working relationships with internal departments, external partners, solicitors, insurers, and other stakeholders.
    • Support the delivery of exceptional customer service and positive client outcomes.
    • Contribute to strategic projects and operational improvement programmes.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven experience in a claims management, legal services, insurance, or financial services environment.
  • Previous team leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
  • Strong understanding of claims handling processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing high-volume caseload operations and performance-driven teams.
  • Experience using claims management and reporting systems.
  • Leadership or management qualifications are desirable but not essential.
