  • About Blue Light Management

Blue Light Management specialises in the delivery of construction and refurbishment projects within complex operational environments, particularly across the healthcare sector.

Operating under a Construction Management delivery model, Blue Light Management acts as Construction Manager and Principal Contractor under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations.

We do not directly undertake construction works.

Instead, we manage, coordinate and supervise specialist trade contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards of quality.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager (Construction Management) to lead the day-to-day delivery of construction projects within live healthcare environments.

This is a senior site-based role focused on contractor management, health and safety compliance, programme delivery and quality assurance.

The successful candidate will act as Blue Light Management's primary representative on site, ensuring that multiple trade contractors work safely, collaboratively and in accordance with project requirements.

Working closely with the Project Management team, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and with minimal disruption to operational healthcare facilities.

This role is primarily based across London and the South East, although travel to projects throughout the UK will be required from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Leadership and Contractor Management
  • Manage and coordinate all site-based activities undertaken by trade contractors.
  • Act as Blue Light Management's senior representative on site.
  • Supervise and coordinate multiple trade contractors working concurrently within live healthcare environments.
  • Ensure contractors work in accordance with approved programmes, specifications and construction methodologies.
  • Monitor contractor performance, productivity and resource levels.
  • Manage contractor interfaces and resolve sequencing, access and logistical challenges.
  • Coordinate site logistics, welfare facilities, deliveries and access arrangements.
  • Chair site coordination meetings and daily briefings.
  • Maintain accurate site records, diaries and progress reports.
  • Escalate programme, quality and safety concerns where appropriate.
  • Health, Safety and Compliance

Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture across all projects.

Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and Principal Contractor responsibilities.

Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and contractor safety briefings.

Review contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

Administer and monitor permit-to-work systems.

Undertake regular site inspections, audits and safety reviews.

Identify unsafe behaviours and implement corrective actions.

Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances.

Ensure all contractors comply with site rules, statutory requirements and project-specific controls.

Manage works in accordance with infection prevention and control requirements where applicable.

  • Quality Assurance
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Carry out quality inspections and snagging reviews.
  • Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure defects are rectified in a timely manner.
  • Support project handover and completion activities.
  • Programme and Project Delivery
  • Monitor progress against programme milestones.
  • Work closely with the Project Management team to identify and mitigate delivery risks.
  • Support planning and sequencing of works.
  • Ensure contractor activities are coordinated to maintain programme objectives.
  • Provide regular progress updates and reporting.
  • Client and Stakeholder Management
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with NHS Trust representatives, consultants and stakeholders.
  • Attend progress meetings and site reviews.
  • Ensure disruption to hospital operations, patients and staff is minimised.
  • Maintain professional standards of communication at all times.
