ENGAGEMENT DETAILS Self-employed CIS subcontract arrangement Initial contract term of six months, with possible extension Gross contract earnings of £180£220 per authorised working day Immediate start, subject to interview, verification, mandatory training and onboarding Work based in Coventry and surrounding project locations PAYMENT AND PRODUCTIVITY The standard gross contract rate starts at £180 per authorised working day, based on meeting the agreed minimum productivity requirement of three qualifying installations.
Additional performance-related payments may increase gross daily earnings up to £220 where further qualifying installations are completed above the agreed minimum.
All payments and additional productivity amounts are subject to: Work and installation availability; Satisfactory workmanship; Complete and accurate supporting records; Project or client acceptance; Compliance with safety and quality requirements; and The absence of avoidable defects or repeat visits.
The complete payment calculation, productivity requirements and quality conditions will be explained during the interview and confirmed in the written subcontract agreement before engagement.
This is a self-employed CIS subcontract opportunity and not PAYE employment.

ABOUT THE ROLE Physical digging is an essential and regular part of this role.
This is not a meter-installation-only position.
The work includes: Preparing and securing the working area; Installing barriers, signage and pedestrian protection; Locating and protecting underground utility services; Digging and opening the ground to access water services; Installing or assisting with smart water-meter installations; Testing and checking completed installations; Backfilling and compacting opened ground; Reinstating roads, pavements, driveways and other surfaces; Completing site photographs, measurements and installation records; and Leaving each working area clean, secure and professionally presented.
Applicants must be willing and physically capable of carrying out outdoor manual work involving digging, lifting, backfilling, compaction and reinstatement.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Applicants should have relevant practical experience in one or more of the following: Water-meter installation; Water utilities; Groundworks and physical digging; Highway or utility reinstatement; Civil-engineering work; Underground-service location; Backfilling and compaction; Asphalt or concrete work; or Paving and surface restoration.
CIS applicants must be experienced and capable of working safely and competently under a subcontract arrangement.

MANDATORY TRAINING AND ACCREDITATIONS The following training or accreditations are required before operational onboarding: Asbestos Awareness Category A Banksman Training Manual Handling Abrasive Wheels Emergency First Aid at Work NRSWA Five-Day Operative Training EUSR SHEA Water EUSR National Water Hygiene CAT and Genny EUSR Category 1 Locate Utility Services Existing valid certificates may be accepted subject to verification.
Candidates must not book or pay for any outstanding training before completing an interview and receiving written conditional selection.
Following conditional selection, candidates will be responsible for booking and paying the relevant independent training provider directly.
Training payments must not be made to Bluegrid Technology Ltd or any Bluegrid employee or representative.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS Applicants should: Be genuinely self-employed; Be registered or capable of verification under CIS; Provide a valid Unique Taxpayer Reference; Have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom; Have relevant practical industry experience; Be physically capable of regular digging and manual work; Work safely around underground services; Communicate effectively and complete basic operational records; Be reliable, punctual and professional; Be able to travel to operational locations around Coventry; and Preferably hold a full UK driving licence acceptable for relevant insurance purposes.
CIS subcontractors are responsible for their own tax, National Insurance, invoicing and other self-employed obligations.
