As a Maintenance Engineer – Electrical/ Mechanical you will support the business needs, production deadlines and continuous improvement efforts through maintaining all manufacturing plant, equipment and facilities and ensuring they are in good working order.
What you will do:
- Carry out repairs to all types of plant/machines and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner.
- Assist in the development of planned preventative maintenance schedules (PPM).
- Carry out PPM schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required.
- Operate Forklift Trucks and Mobile Elevated Working Platform as required. Working at height (ladders/steps training will be provided).
- Assist working with specialist contract maintenance engineers when necessary.
- Report breakdown root cause, equipment faults and concerns to supervision/management.
- Plan/prioritise work through the online Maintenance Dashboard IMO to support production and ensure efficient use of working time.
- Manufacture spare parts as required (Simple bracketry, parts, gaskets etc.) using lathes, milling machines, welding equipment, etc.
- Respond to site maintenance request for equipment fault, diagnose fault repair and return equipment to operational service. All work to be carried out operating in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assist with the moving, installation, repositioning of machines and equipment.
- Make periodic inspection for new electrical services (110v, 240v and 415v three phase), including wiring, conduit, panels, breakers, contractors, relays, timers, and controls.
- Perform electrical maintenance and repair work; install/replace fixtures, switches, receptacles, and wiring.
- Operate a variety of standard power tools, equipment and trenchers in electrical installations, maintenance, and repair activities on a regular basis.
- Maintain records and logs as needed.
- Provide guidance and direction to less experienced personnel and others assigned to his/her position.
- Work in accordance with the documented Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and instructions. Maintain high standards at all times, report problems or deviations associated with H&S to the responsible Manager/Supervisor.
What you will need:
- Must be a time served engineer in machine tool fitting (or have an equivalent qualification) & a formal IET Wiring Regulations BS7671 qualification or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid UK driver’s license.
- Previous experience of working in similar environment with similar role responsibilities.
- A good working knowledge and understanding of installation processes and technology.
- Previous experience of working towards improving and maintaining quality standards.
- Knowledge of current electrical legislation.
- Familiar with all types of installation including conduit armoured cable tray and trunking work.
- Familiar with planned and preventive maintenance.
- Use of mechanical lifters.
- Multi skilled in basic mechanical practices.
- Engineering commercial installation experience.
- Ability to read engineering/electrical drawings and engineering quality plans.
- Ability to use a variety of testing equipment.
- A methodical approach to systems and understanding of the importance of standards and established/agreed systems of work.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to maintain and improve effective working practices, levels housekeeping and health and safety standards.
- Ability to safely handle materials.
