Are you an experienced Health and Safety professional with a passion for Health & Safety, governance, and continuous improvement? Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Health and Safety Officer to join their facilities team in Oldham. This is an exciting opportunity for a compliance-focused professional to play a pivotal role in ensuring statutory compliance, supporting operational excellence, and driving a strong safety culture across a diverse portfolio of facilities. You will play a critical role in auditing, compliance monitoring, data analysis, reporting, H&S documentation, and supporting the effective delivery of the facilities team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead on the planning, monitoring, and delivery of compliance programmes, ensuring robust governance, transparent reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Lead on the delivery of ensuring services align with organisational priorities and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the performance management of external contractors, ensuring contractual compliance & quality standards.
- Mentor and develop the Facilities Teams, with training needs.
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and regulatory requirements, assuring that systems, processes, and controls demonstrate legal and regulatory compliance.
- Lead on internal and external audits and inspections, ensuring actions are tracked, and assurance is provided.
- Ensure site compliance in topics including, but not limited to, fire systems, LOLER, PSSR, Legionella.
Essential Experience & Knowledge:
- IOSH certified with a minimum of 3 years' experience conducting Health & Safety audits and compliance inspections.
- Strong understanding of facilities compliance and statutory obligations.
- Experience managing statutory inspections and regulatory compliance programmes.
- Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency, including report writing and presentations.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across a broad range of compliance activities.
