Job Location: Bristol Central. Minimum 3 days in office Tuesday - Thursday. Hybrid working available.
Role Purpose: As the Data Analyst you will be responsible for delivering accurate and insightful analysis and reports based on business requirements. This role will have a particular focus on Operations and Maintenance data, working alongside the Field Engineering team to define, build and maintain data analysis on operational performance. It requires diligence, critical thinking in validating data, and good collaboration skills to develop actionable insights that support decision-making across technical and non-technical audiences.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Produce, maintain and improve dashboards and reports in Excel and PowerBI, providing critical insights, performance metrics, and KPIs for informed decision-making.
- Maintain performance data sets with strong governance and robust processes.
- Build efficient data flows for reporting on Operations and Maintenance metrics.
- Collaborate with field engineering teams to communicate insights from data analysis, gather requirements for further analysis and build analytical tools for them to use in their daily work.
- Manage reporting processes - meeting deadlines, coordinating inputs, and updating stakeholders across cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, asset management, field services).
- Provide training and support to staff in understanding and utilising the reports.
- Act as a primary point of contact for reporting-related queries and work to resolve issues promptly.
- Collaborate with data engineers to incorporate reporting into the full data pipeline.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Experience: 2+ years of experience of reporting and analysing data. Experience in a relevant sector is highly desirable. This could include the renewable energy sector or other industries that involve operating and maintaining physical assets.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, best practice in setting up Excel analysis). Proficiency in Power BI (building and maintaining dashboards and semantic models). SQL experience for querying and managing large datasets. Desirable: Understanding of operations & maintenance metrics and their application for reporting on O&M performance. Desirable: Understanding of SCADA systems and their integration with business intelligence platforms. Desirable: Knowledge of Python for data analysis, automation, and creating data pipelines.
- Soft Skills: Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying issues and providing timely solutions. Curiosity and critical thinking about what the numbers mean. Innovative and proactive mindset to improve processes where you see an opportunity. Strong communication with the capacity to convey complex data insights to non-technical colleagues. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and drive cross-departmental initiatives.
