The County Support Centre Lead position will suit a dynamic, organised, approachable and self‐led individual who has strong administration and people skills. You will be a proactive team player who can pro‐actively support our County Team, local volunteers and staff throughout Hertfordshire Scouts. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy, changeable, compliance‐driven environment where you might take a lunchtime stroll in the woodlands directly from your office.

Position Details

  • 12 month contract (option to extend)
  • 2080 hours per year
  • Hours flexible to meet job needs, may include weekends and evenings; average 40 hours per week
  • Location: Phasels Wood Activity Centre, Kings Langley
  • The role may involve work across all four Hertfordshire sites depending on work task requirements, so flexibility to travel is required.

Role Purpose & Responsibilities

The County Support Centre Lead role is key to ensuring volunteers, managers and staff are well supported and plays a critical role in the smooth running of the office, delivery of services and staff engagement. You will be the primary point of contact for all adult volunteers, whether face‐to‐face, by email or on the phone. You will personally handle general enquiries, manage training and liaise with all stakeholders for County Events.

Working with the Manager of Activity Centres and Support Functions, you will manage HR activities including production and maintenance of personnel records, monthly action on pay and pensions, sickness and annual leave records, and performance management and salary reviews. You will also be involved in recruitment, onboarding and exit of staff, engaging with staff and addressing issues promptly. The County Support Centre Lead will provide additional administrative support to the Manager of Activity Centres and Support Functions and Experience Managers, covering compliance and governance across activity centres.
