Description

JCA’s flagship activity centre, Condover Hall, Shrewsbury. Post close 12th November. This residential apprenticeship starts January 2, 2026 and is based at Condover Hall in Shropshire, one of our UK Children’s Activity Centres. The programme provides practical instructor training and industry-recognised qualifications.

What is an Outdoor Activity Apprenticeship?

The apprenticeship focuses on practical instructor elements with support for theory-based learning. You will be trained across our 40+ activities and, once trained, lead groups on these activities, helping guests enjoy an unforgettable adventure holiday. You will gain a Level 3 qualification in Outdoor Activity Leadership, plus opportunities for additional external qualifications including:

  • Fencing Leader
  • FSRT & Paddle Sports instructor
  • GB Orienteering
  • GB Archery
  • First Aid
  • NPLQ

What will I be doing?

Over 10 months, you will receive training to become a champion Activity Instructor. You will be trained in delivering all activities and will lead groups on them. You will be based on site with accommodation provided.

  • 10-month hands-on & practical Apprenticeship
  • National Apprenticeship Wage
  • Full-time, 40 hours/week, including some evenings & weekends
  • Residential position in Condover, Shrewsbury
  • On-site training 5–6 weeks covering activities, health & safety, first aid, safeguarding, etc.
  • Enhanced DBS check (cost covered); references and IDs required
  • On-site recruitment events as part of screening
  • Must be 18 or over by start date

What we are looking for

No prior experience required; we provide full training. Candidates should have enthusiasm for the outdoors, a passion for working with children, and be comfortable being trained across all activities, including some involving heights and dancing.

Recruitment process
