- SUPPORT FOR THESTUDENT
- Supportand direct activities with either individuals or groups of students toensure their safety and facilitate their physical, emotional and cognitivedevelopment.
- To leadcare, personal hygiene medical needs and support of students includingpublishing care plans
- Contributeto the health and well-being of students.
- Establishand maintain good working relationships with individual students andgroups.
- Promoteand reinforce the students' self-esteem and independence e. g. support inform time, Ao W, unstructured time, enrichment etc.
To take a lead role in encouraging the acceptance andinclusion of all students including the implementation and delivery of targetedinterventions and any other support taskas directed by the SENCo.
- Tosupport students as directed during formal public or internal Academyexaminations.
- Tosupervise and coordinate students on work placements, educational visits, residential trips, transition, travel training, off-site placements andrecreational activities as appropriate.
- To planand deliver a programme of self-organisation and study skills in allocatedperiods during the Academy day and after Academy sessions.
- Drawingon prior knowledge and expertise of individual needs, to develop anunderstanding of the specific needs of the students within the Academycommunity.
- Toliaise effectively with teachers/parents/carers/external agencies asappropriate.
- Toassume responsibility for designated keyworker role with the mostchallenging and complex student/s, including those with an EHCP.
- Tocollaborate with the SENCo in the writing and collation of IEPs/Reviews/Annual Reviews.
- To beresponsible for the planning and participation of transition process andindividualised programmes for targeted students.
- SUPPORT THETEACHER
- Liaisewith classroom teachers and complete Teacher/TA contracts.
- Assistteaching staff in the planning of work programmes for individuals andgroups of students.
- Toimplement learning programmes as directed by the class teacher - withindividual or small groups.
- Planand provide appropriate resources reflecting needs of SEN students inmainstream lessons.
- Tosupport designated students/s or be responsible for a small group asagreed by the teacher.
- To beresponsible for the collation of data for targeted students with SEN.
- Usingassessment information and data to inform teaching staff of students'learning goals and preferred learning styles.
- Togather information, as directed, about named students and their currentlevels for staff.
- Toobserve and assess individual student's needs and provide regular feedbackand/or guidance to the teacher/SENCo.
- Toagree a behaviour management role within the classroom recordingappropriate Sleuths and following through sanctions and rewards.
- To workwith the mainstream teacher in the review process as appropriate.
- SUPPORT FOR THECURRICULUM
- Planand lead literacy and numeracy tasks to improve access across thecurriculum in a planned manner.
- Co-ordinateand organise students attending extra-curricular activities.
- Planand deliver learning activities including enrichment activities during thenormal Academy day and after Academy.
- Supportthe use and development of ICT within the classroom.
- Takeresponsibility for developing and delivering individual/small group skillsessions including Literacy, Numeracy, Life Skills, Sp LD, SRE, SALT, self-help skills, Social Stories etc.
- Toteach the Foundation Learning cohort in sessions as directed by the SENCoand Assistant Principal (Curriculum)
- Toliaise and report to, as necessary, during visits by support agencies whomight be involved in the support of key areas of the curriculum[Educational Psychologist, Speech Therapist, Inclusive Education Service, Academy Doctor etc.]
- Toassess, record and report back on student achievement through Academyassessment procedures.
- SUPPORT FOR THEACADEMY
- To beresponsible for a designated area/s for the development of the Learning Support Faculty e. g. budget, subject area, enrichment.
- Collaborationwith colleagues and form effective working partnerships.
- Establisheffective working relationships with parents/carers that influence studentachievement.
- To beresponsible for safeguarding the confidential nature ofstudent/teacher/home issues.
- Tosupervise the maintenance of student safety and security, including breakand lunchtime duties in the faculty and taxi duties.
- To leadand/or contribute at Faculty/Pastoral meetings as appropriate.
- Attendand report back on student progress on specific subject areas at Parent Evenings.
- Torepresent the faculty at Open Evenings, Induction Evenings, Information Evenings etc. as and when appropriate.
- Liaiseand visit other academies colleges to help with the transition process.
- Certain Level 2 Teaching Assistants have specific additional responsibilities thatare unique to the post which needs to be included in individual jobdescriptions due to the level of coordination including staff, parents, outside agencies.
