We are seeking an experienced Toolroom Engineer to join a large international manufacturer of electrical components. This is a hands-on role supporting the business with the production, repair, maintenance, and development of tooling, as well as the manufacture of small-batch precision components for NPI, sampling, and testing. You will play a key role in ensuring tooling meets exacting quality and tolerance requirements while contributing to continuous improvement and innovation across tooling and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture new tooling and refurbish existing tooling for moulding and product assembly
- Develop innovative tooling solutions to support efficient manufacture
- Machine tooling and NPI piece parts to precise tolerances
- Produce small quantities of piece parts (typically up to 5-off) for NPI, samples, and testing
- Work closely with design, manufacturing, and process engineers to advise on tooling design and process improvements
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and company policies
- Undertake other reasonable duties as required to support the Toolroom and wider business
About You
Essential Skills & Experience
- City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering
- Completed a time-served apprenticeship in a toolmaking environment
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Toolroom Engineer, Toolroom Technician, or Toolmaker
- Proven experience in mould tool and assembly tool manufacture
- Ability to machine to exacting tolerances using milling, turning, grinding, and related methods
- Strong understanding of tool manufacture and precision engineering
- CAD/CAM knowledge
- Experience with CNC mills and lathes
