Lead, improve and grow a developing home care service

We are looking for a highly accountable, commercially driven Registered Manager to lead a domiciliary care service based in Southend-on-Sea.

What we offer

  • Performance-related OTE bonus.
  • The opportunity to lead and shape a developing service.
  • Support from an established multi-site group infrastructure.
  • Access to dedicated finance, HR, recruitment and leadership support.
  • Genuine autonomy and responsibility.
  • Ongoing professional and leadership development.
  • The opportunity to make a measurable impact on quality, culture and growth.
  • Future progression opportunities within a growing care group.

The service currently supports approximately 30–40 customers through a team of around 13–15 Care Experts. It has strong growth ambitions, but it also has challenges that require clear leadership, structure, consistency and ownership.

This is not a maintenance role. The successful candidate will be confident taking responsibility for the performance of the service, identifying what needs to improve and following actions through to completion. You will be expected to bring stability, raise standards, strengthen communication and build a service capable of sustainable growth.

The right person will be ambitious, organised, resilient and comfortable being measured on both quality and commercial performance.

The role

As Registered Manager, you will hold overall responsibility for the safe, compliant and commercially successful operation of the service.

You will lead the office and care teams, improve operational performance, strengthen customer and Care Expert engagement and build a clear plan for growth across the Southend area.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the day-to-day operation of the domiciliary care service.
  • Maintaining full compliance with CQC regulations and best practice.
  • Taking ownership of service performance, quality and commercial results.
  • Building structure, consistency and accountability across the team.
  • Leading, coaching and developing office-based colleagues and Care Experts.
  • Ensuring customers receive safe, responsive and person-centred care.
  • Driving sustainable growth within the local private care market.
  • Improving recruitment, retention, capacity and service delivery.
  • Monitoring performance through clear KPIs, audits and action plans.
  • Communicating proactively with customers, families, professionals and colleagues.
  • Building strong local relationships and developing the service’s presence within the community.
  • Identifying risks or concerns early and taking decisive action to address them.

About you

You will be a confident leader who takes ownership and does not wait for problems to be solved by others.

You will be comfortable making decisions, managing competing priorities and holding both yourself and your team to high standards. Exceptional organisation and communication are essential, as the role requires someone who can bring clarity, consistency and confidence to the service.

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Strong experience within domiciliary care.
  • Experience supporting or leading a service through a Good or Outstanding CQC inspection.
  • A commercially driven approach with a clear understanding of growth, capacity and service performance.
  • Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A highly accountable leadership style with a strong sense of ownership.
  • The ability to lead through challenge, change and periods of improvement.
  • Strong people-management skills and the confidence to address underperformance.
  • A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience within private domiciliary care.
  • Experience leading or supporting a turnaround or significant service-improvement project.
  • A proven track record of growing a care service.
  • Experience improving recruitment, retention, quality or commercial performance.
  • Knowledge of the Southend-on-Sea area and local care market.

Supported, but fully accountable

You will have full accountability for your service, but you will not be expected to deliver alone.

The service operates as part of an established multi‑site care group, with access to supportive central resources while the service grows.

You will be supported by experienced functions across:

  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Recruitment
  • Marketing
  • Quality and compliance
  • Senior leadership

This structure gives you access to the expertise and resources needed to succeed, while still allowing you the autonomy to lead your service and take ownership of its results.

We believe in autonomy with accountability. You will be trusted to make decisions, lead your team and shape the future of the service, while receiving appropriate support, challenge and guidance from the wider group.

The person we are looking for

We are looking for someone who sees challenge as an opportunity to make a difference.

Someone who is highly organised, commercially aware and passionate about high-quality care. A leader who communicates clearly, follows through on commitments and accepts full responsibility for the performance of their service.

This role would suit an experienced Registered Manager who wants the opportunity to improve, grow and shape a service, rather than simply maintain one.
