This is a fantastic opportunity to begin a rewarding career in Health and Social Care. As a Care Coordinator at Bluebird Care (Cornwall North), you will be part of a friendly and supportive office team, helping to organise the schedules of our Care Assistants so that customers receive their care on time and in the way they prefer. Full training will be provided from day one. You do not need previous experience in care — what matters most is that you are organised, a good communicator, caring by nature, have excellent IT skills and eager to learn. This role offers a genuine pathway into a professional career, with opportunities to grow and develop within the company.

Supporting the Team with Staffing

  • With guidance from the Lead Coordinator and/or Registered Manager, help to keep track of Care Assistant availability and flag when additional cover may be needed.
  • Assist with arranging cover when Care Assistants are off sick, on holiday or unavailable, learning how to find solutions quickly and calmly.

Welcoming New Customers

  • Help to receive and process enquiries from new customers who are looking for care and support, passing information to the right person promptly and making sure nothing is missed.
  • Update customer’s duration of visit when their care needs change, following the guidance of more experienced team members as you learn the systems.

Scheduling and Rosters

  • Learn how to use our scheduling system to match Care Assistants to customers in a way that works well for everyone.
  • Help to build and update weekly rotas, making sure all customer visits are covered and Care Assistants have a manageable workload.
  • With support from the team, you will learn to consider factors such as:
    • Each Care Assistant’s availability;
    • What each customer needs and how they prefer their care to be delivered;
    • Travel time and routes between visits, to help Care Assistants get where they need to be on time.
  • Assist with last-minute rota changes when emergencies arise — you will be coached through these situations until you feel confident managing them independently.
  • Help to send out rotas to Customers at the agreed times each week.
  • In time, you may be asked to join the out-of-hours on-call rota to help deal with any urgent situations that arise outside office hours. This will only happen once you have completed full training and your manager is confident you are ready.

Record-Keeping and Administration

  • Help to keep electronic and paper records accurate and up to date, following our systems and processes.
  • Learn to use our software to log mileage and travel information for Care Assistants.
  • Support the team in making sure any accidents or incidents are properly recorded and reported.
  • Keep all customer and staff information strictly private and confidential at all times — you will receive training on data protection and GDPR when you join.
  • Carry out general day-to-day office tasks and help to prepare straightforward reports when asked by your manager.

Communication and Teamwork

  • Answer calls and respond to messages from customers, their families and Care Assistants in a friendly, professional and helpful manner.
  • Be a positive and reliable member of the office team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a good working environment.
