If you’re an experienced Stress Engineer who enjoys getting properly involved in complex machinery and structural design, this role offers depth, influence and variety that’s hard to find.

You’ll join a well-established engineering business delivering full turnkey product handling systems for some of the world’s most demanding sectors – including Oil & Gas, Renewables, Defence and Oceanographic Survey. From concept through build, test and global installation, engineering decisions made in Telford genuinely matter.

This is an office-based, hands-on engineering role where stress analysis is central to the design process, not an afterthought. You’ll work closely with the Principal Engineer and mechanical design team, shaping how designs are verified and ensuring they stand up to real-world conditions.

What makes this role attractive:
  • You’ll own design verification strategy, not just calculations
  • Exposure to offshore and regulated environments using DNV, LR, ABS, BV and Eurocodes
  • A mix of FEA and first-principles calculations, with time to do things properly
  • Opportunity to mentor and upskill engineers, developing templates and best practice
  • Projects that are engineered, built and tested on-site, giving real design feedback
What you’ll be doing:
  • Defining loads, load paths and foundation reactions
  • Verifying strength, deflection and code compliance
  • Producing clear verification reports and calculation packs
  • Supporting third-party and regulatory design approval
What you’ll need:
  • Strong stress engineering background (machinery / structures)
  • Offshore or heavy engineering experience
  • Proficiency in FEA and hand calculations
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
