What you'll do
You'll handle scheduling and resource planning, ensuring engineering plans tie into wider project delivery while creating layout drawings and 3D models for high-level equipment integration. Complex design tasks of bespoke and special purpose machinery will keep you engaged, alongside design calculations and analysis for verification. You'll work with a dedicated test engineer to validate designs through factory acceptance testing.
Leading your team will involve delegating tasks, mentoring less experienced engineers, and supporting in-house training. You'll chair design review meetings and coordinate work between mechanical and controls engineering. Customer-facing responsibilities include project review meetings and liaison with third party design approval agencies. You'll also contribute to new product development, cost estimation, and technical input to business opportunities.
What you'll need
- Minimum HNC in mechanical engineering with technical apprenticeship, or degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autodesk AutoCAD, and Autodesk Inventor
- 10 years in a similar role
- Offshore design experience with knowledge of DNV, LR, ABS, BV design codes
- Experience in lifting, cranes, industrial and structural engineering
- Knowledge of Euro Codes
- Familiarity with Machinery Directive and/or Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations
