UK Only | 2D Generalist - Experienced in London

Blue Zoo Digital is looking for a 2D Generalist to join their team in London. As our 2D Generalist, you will enjoy working in multiple disciplines across our diverse games and animation projects. You will be passionate about design and animation, showing an excellent level of drawing ability, good colour-sense, and a solid understanding of animation and design principles.

You will be working within a team, understanding concept briefs to create visual assets, character design and graphics, from concept to animation. We are very happy to discuss flexible, hybrid and remote working options for all our vacancies. The successful candidate will need to be based in the UK and will require the right to work in the UK. This opportunity is available on a Fixed Term contract, starting 10th August 2026 going through until 16th October 2026.

Day to Day:

• Collaborating with our senior artist to create visual assets (characters, props and environments) for games and animation production, following established art direction and style guidelines.
• Producing animations for characters and other on-screen elements, breathing life into our games and linear output.
• Contributing to the creation of concept art, sketches and storyboards to visualise ideas during the earliest stages of development and for pitches.
• Coming up with new character designs for new games and IP developments.
• Creating UI elements to design visually appealing and intuitive UI elements such as menus, buttons, icons and other graphical elements.
• Working with existing brands to interpret and replicate characters as optimised game animations.
• Collaborating with other team members to ensure the integration of your assets into games and animations.
• Embracing opportunities for continuous learning and skill development, staying up-to-date with industry trends, tools and techniques.
• Helping to generate new ideas for live briefs.
• Managing your tasks and time efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Responding positively to notes and feedback.

About You

Must Have:

• A portfolio showcasing your artwork, animation samples, character design and any relevant projects that showcase your skills and creativity.
• Familiar with Photoshop, After Effects and Rubberhose.
• Animation skills, combined with a good sense of graphic design.
• Good drawing skills and understanding of principles of composition, colour theory, anatomy and perspective.
• Understanding of animation and games production processes and schedules.
• Self-motivation and a desire to learn.
• Ability to take direction and willing to address constructive feedback.
• Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and work effectively in a team oriented environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively, as well as independently.
• An appreciation of accuracy and paying close attention to detail to deliver work of the highest quality.
• Ability to deliver on schedule, working calmly and efficiently under pressure.

Bonus Points:

• Knowledge of 3D animation and Unity.
• A passion for cinematography or video games.
