Our modelling artists are incredible character builders. They build characters with charming details that help tell stories. They are always keen and constantly striving to improve their skills and assets. They focus on creating detailed, stylised characters based on informative concept designs, whilst meeting production deadlines and that all-important brief from our Directors, Art Directors and Clients.
This role requires the hired candidate to be based in the UK, outside of London (outside the M25). We are unable to consider VISA sponsorship at this time. Day to Day:
- Modelling, UV mapping, texturing and shading stylised character assets.
- Effectively realising a 2D concept through to 3D, as well as being able to work with minimal design with the guidance of a Senior or Lead Artist.
- Working as part of a team of modelling artists, and regularly communicating with our Rigging Department, CG Supervisor, Art Director and Directors.
- Producing render tests for the approval process.
- Managing your time efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Responding positively to, and acting on notes and feedback from our Rigging Department, the CG Supervisor, Art Director and Director.
- Communicating with and responding to other departments to manage any fixes and notes, especially our Rigging and Surfacing Departments.
- Reporting to the Team Lead and Production Manager if there are any issues that need to be flagged that could affect the schedule.
About You
Must Have:
- Solid demonstrable animation production experience.
- Interpreting volume and form when creating models from concept designs.
- Working with modelling tools both in Maya and Zbrush.
- Knowledge of clean topology and subdivision modelling principles.
- UV mapping with Maya.
- Knowledge of texturing assets with Substance Painter and Photoshop.
- Being a team player and great collaborator.
- Creative problem solving.
Bonus Points:
- Knowledge of Substance Designer.
