As Senior Set Designer, you will be responsible for designing sets based on the style of the show, from concept through to final approved artwork, working under the supervision of the Art Director. Your duties will include conducting research and explorations through references and spatial planning, considering story and 3D needs, and working within the boundaries of a given brief. You will also strive to improve your skills and support other team members.

We are open to discussing flexible, hybrid, and remote working options for all vacancies. Please note that this vacancy may close early if we receive a high volume of applications. The successful candidates will need to be based in the UK, ideally within commuting distance of our Brighton Zoo studio, though this is not mandatory. We are unable to consider VISA sponsorship at this time.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Research and create exploratory sketches, thumbnails, and 3D blocking for interior and exterior sets based on the approved brief.

  • Produce detailed drawings at correct scale with prop callouts specifying prop details within the set.

  • Communicate clearly with the Art Director to understand and represent design options aligning with their vision for the sets and story.

  • Understand the scope and resources needed for design and modeling, maintaining constant communication with production to meet deadlines.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure designs are feasible throughout the production pipeline.

  • Work as part of a team to interpret assigned concepts and support team members.

  • Respond positively to notes and feedback.

  • Provide Colour Keys and Digital Paintings for translation into a 3D environment.
