We are looking for a Junior Layout Artist who is interested in cinematography and animation to join us for an exciting production here at Blue Zoo!
As a Junior Layout Artist you will work alongside our Director and Animation Director to refine final camera movements to support the final story. You will also help develop the previsualisation of a high-end CG TV series, in line with approved episodic storyboards. To be successful in the role, we are looking for an artist who can design shots and translate traditional filmmaking principles into a 3D software.
This opportunity requires talent to be based regionally - in the UK, outside of the M25 as per client requirements - and will require the right to work in the UK. Please note that this vacancy can close early if we receive a high number of applications. This opportunity is due to start late March, finishing up around early May 2026. Day To Day
- Working with the Director and Animation Director to build scene set ups in line with approved client storyboards
- Create rough layouts, defining the initial blocking of character animation and cameras within a scene
- Make sure all scenes are working within the required pipeline set up to be delivered to the animation department
- Adapt and refine cameras based on Director critiques and changes
- Liaise with the Storyboard, Assets and Animation departments to create layouts that work towards the Directors intended vision
About You
Must Have:
- Working knowledge of Maya and clean scene set ups
- Demonstrable artistic skills including a strong sense of composition and perspective, the knack to create atmosphere and a good understanding of editing
- Good understanding of cinematography, pacing, timing and general filmmaking concepts
- Knowledge of CG Animation techniques
- Knowledge of a CG pipeline
- A passion for cinematography or video games
