About the role: We are seeking a Staff UX Designer who will drive forward the most important products in our returns portfolio while managing and coaching key members of the design team. This is a player-coach role, combining hands-on design execution with leadership responsibilities to raise the profile of design across the returns portfolio and the organisation. As a Staff UX Designer, you will be a vital member of your cross-functional product squad, promoting design standards, advocating for the user, and shaping our product strategy. You understand that creating cohesive, user-centric experiences is paramount and are passionate about building products that drive value for people, businesses, and the planet.

Design Execution

  • Own and evolve the end-to-end design process for the returns portfolio, from discovery and ideation through to delivery and iteration.
  • Lead the creation of intuitive, user-friendly experiences, collaborating closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality design artefacts—including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and UI designs—that bring product strategies to life.
  • Drive user research efforts, including field studies, usability testing, and customer interviews, to deeply understand user needs and validate solutions.
  • Identify and champion new opportunities for innovation, introducing disruptive features and products that enhance the customer experience.

Coaching & Team Development

  • Manage and mentor designers within the returns team, providing regular feedback, guidance, and support to help them grow their skills and confidence.
  • Lead ongoing design reviews, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring the team delivers high-quality, consistent designs.
  • Advocate for best practices and design excellence, helping scale the impact of design across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with leadership to recruit, onboard, and develop new design talent, ensuring the team continues to thrive.

Strategic Impact

  • Use data, research insights, and business goals to inform design decisions, ensuring that all solutions align with customer needs and deliver measurable impact.
  • Influence product strategy by identifying new challenges and opportunities, working with cross-functional teams to prioritise and tackle them.
  • Serve as a trusted design advocate, building strong relationships with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, and Sales.
  • Help define and promote design principles and guidelines to ensure consistency and scalability across products.

What You’ll Do Every Day

  • Solve complex problems through design, applying user-centered design (UCD) principles, research, and business strategy.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and other team members to deliver cohesive end-to-end experiences.
  • Create user journey maps that articulate interactions across touchpoints, identifying pain points and opportunities.
  • Translate concepts into wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs.
  • Design and deliver experiences optimised for a range of devices and platforms.
  • Rapidly test, iterate, and refine designs based on feedback and data.
  • Make strategic design decisions, balancing customer needs with business objectives.
  • Contribute to and help evolve design systems to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Manage and coach a few members of the design team.

You Should Apply If

  • You have around 10+ years of experience in UX/product design, with a proven track record of shipping B2B products from concept to launch.
  • You have previous management or mentorship experience, with a passion for developing and coaching designers.
  • You are a strong cross-functional collaborator, influencing stakeholders and driving alignment across teams.
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and have the creativity, problem-solving skills, and tenacity to turn it into clarity and action.
  • You have an uncompromising focus on user-centric design, using data, research, and well-honed judgement to make impactful decisions.
  • You are adaptable and understand when to balance perfection with progress to meet business goals.
  • You are excited about raising the bar for design and contributing to a growing, ambitious team.
