Blue Water Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a reputable and growing main contractor seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the successful delivery of refurbishment and fit-out projects within the education sector.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across schools, colleges, and educational facilities.

Projects typically include classroom refurbishments, extensions, internal remodelling, roofing, M&E upgrades, and external improvement works, with values ranging from £500k to £10m.

Many projects will be carried out within live school environments, making careful planning, communication, and a proactive approach to health and safety essential.

The Role -

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

You'll coordinate subcontractors, manage site logistics, maintain excellent client relationships, and ensure minimal disruption to staff, students, and the wider public.

Key Responsibilities -

  • Manage the day-to-day running of refurbishment and construction projects.
  • Lead and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour.
  • Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme.
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
  • Deliver projects within live educational environments while minimising disruption.
  • Carry out site inspections and quality assurance checks.
  • Chair site meetings and coordinate activities with the project team.
  • Monitor programme progress and resolve on-site issues proactively.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including daily diaries and progress reports.
  • Build positive relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are handed over on time and to the required standard.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager within the construction industry.
  • Experience delivering refurbishment, fit-out, or new build projects.
  • Previous experience working on education projects is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and site management.
  • Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and maintain programme.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
