Heavy Plant Maintenance Engineer / Fitter Location: Haverfordwest Employment Type: Permanent Sector: Quarrying / Aggregates / Heavy Plant The Role We are recruiting for an experienced Heavy Plant Maintenance Engineer / Fitter to join the maintenance team of an established organisation operating across South and West Wales. Working across a varied fleet of mobile and fixed plant, you will be responsible for planned maintenance, servicing, repairs and responding to breakdowns. The role will involve working with equipment used across quarrying, aggregates, asphalt, concrete and civil engineering operations. This is a hands-on position suited to someone with a strong background in heavy plant maintenance who is comfortable diagnosing faults and keeping operational equipment running efficiently. Responsibilities • Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs across mobile and fixed plant. • Work on equipment including articulated dump trucks, loading shovels, 360 excavators, rollers, mini excavators, pavers and planers. • Maintain and repair fixed equipment including asphalt plants, concrete plants and crushing equipment. • Respond efficiently to plant breakdowns and diagnose mechanical faults. • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing. • Carry out three-monthly brake testing on wheeled mobile plant. • Complete service records, job cards, defect reports and maintenance documentation. • Maintain workshops, maintenance vehicles and working areas to required housekeeping standards. • Identify replacement parts and components required for repairs. • Obtain quotations for parts and assist with maintaining appropriate stock levels. • Liaise with Site Managers and operational teams regarding maintenance requirements. • Operate mobile plant where appropriately trained and authorised. • Work safely in accordance with company H&S procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work. • Support apprentices and less experienced team members by sharing knowledge and practical skills. • Assist with other maintenance and site activities when required. Essential Requirements • NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or a minimum of three years' relevant heavy plant maintenance experience. • Experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile plant. • Good mechanical fault-finding and breakdown experience. • Understanding of Health & Safety requirements within an operational environment. • Full UK driving licence. • Own general hand tools – specialist tools will be provided. • Flexible approach to working hours, including supporting shift patterns and weekends when required. • Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider maintenance team. • Experience operating heavy plant or willingness to undertake the relevant training/tickets. Desirable • Experience maintaining quarrying, aggregates, asphalt or concrete equipment. • Experience with fixed crushing or processing plant. • Welding knowledge or experience. • Relevant heavy plant operating tickets.
