We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing fit-out contractor who are looking for an experienced Working Supervisor Carpenter to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on supervisor with strong carpentry and shopfitting experience to work on a variety of high-quality retail and commercial projects across the UK. This role would suit someone who enjoys being on the tools while also taking responsibility for supervising site works and leading teams to deliver projects to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate on-site shop fit-out works from start to completion
- Act as the main point of contact on site, liaising with project managers, subcontractors, and clients
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards
- Carry out all aspects of carpentry, joinery, and shopfitting works
- Conduct site inspections and manage workforce performance
- Oversee materials, labour, and daily site operations
- Lead by example with a proactive, hands-on approach
Requirements:
- Proven experience in retail and shop fit-out supervision
- Strong technical knowledge of construction processes and drawings
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (essential)
- SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS, 3-Day First Aid, and Asbestos Awareness (essential)
- PASMA (preferred but not essential)
- Experience with fire doors and passive fire protection highly desirable
- Full UK driving licence
- Based in Cardiff, Newport, or Bristol, with flexibility to travel nationwide
- Willingness to work away when required (enhanced rates provided)
