The Role We are recruiting for an experienced Façade Designer to join a specialist contractor delivering major cladding remediation and regeneration projects.

This is a varied role combining technical design with regular site involvement.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing and coordinating technical drawings, carrying out site surveys and working closely with project, commercial and site teams throughout the construction process.

The position would suit a technically strong Designer with previous experience working with façades, external wall insulation (EWI), cladding or rainscreen systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce, monitor, coordinate and revise technical drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attend project sites approximately 3–4 days per week to undertake surveys, measurements and photographic records.
  • Translate site survey information into accurate construction and technical drawings.
  • Liaise with Design, Estimating, Commercial, Site Management and other internal departments.
  • Work closely with manufacturers, architects and external structural engineers.
  • Respond to technical queries and provide practical design solutions.
  • Identify design or technical issues and make recommendations to resolve them.
  • Assist with site inspections to monitor the technical quality of works.
  • Ensure installations are completed in accordance with specifications, drawings and manufacturers' recommendations.
  • Ensure relevant design information is available to site teams from project commencement through to completion.
  • Support site management teams and subcontractors with technical guidance where required.
  • Attend project and design meetings with site teams.
  • Coordinate and distribute relevant technical documentation.
  • Collate information required to demonstrate compliance with applicable standards and client requirements.
  • Support the wider Design & Quality function with continuous improvement and technical recommendations.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Previous experience within façades, cladding, EWI or rainscreen systems.
  • Strong technical construction knowledge.
  • Excellent Auto CAD skills.
  • Experience producing detailed construction drawings.
  • Ability to undertake site surveys and translate measurements into technical designs.
  • Comfortable working both on site and within a design/office environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with site teams, manufacturers, engineers and other construction professionals.
  • Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Technology or similar construction-related qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
  • CSCS Card.

Desirable

  • Experience within cladding remediation or façade refurbishment projects.
  • Knowledge of façade interfaces, fire barriers, insulation and associated envelope systems.
  • Experience using 3D Auto CAD, Revit or Sketch Up.
  • Previous experience working for a specialist façade, envelope or cladding contractor.
