Old Sessions House isn't a hotel, and it isn't just an events space — it's a Grade II* listed Georgian icon on Clerkenwell Green, reborn across eight distinctive spaces: from the soaring Great Room to the Rooftop's Mediterranean-style oasis, the Courtroom Bar to the Chairman's Room. It hosts everything from 450-guest exclusive takeovers to intimate private dinners, weddings, and a thriving members' workclub — all in a day's work.

We're looking for a General Manager to be the heartbeat of this building: the person who sets the tone the moment someone walks through the door, who turns a heritage landmark into the most talked-about address in London hospitality, and who builds a commercial engine as sharp as the experience is memorable.

This is a rare one. Bring the right person in, and this role could be one of the most rewarding in London's events and hospitality scene this year.

About Blue Strawberry Group

We're the team behind some of the UK's most prestigious events and venues — bringing Michelin Star-level gastronomy, creative event design, and a genuine obsession with guest experience to every space we touch. We don't do "corporate." We do craft, energy, and a relentless standard of excellence. Joining us means joining a Group that backs its leaders to build something distinctive, not just run a diary.

What you'll own

  • The full commercial and operational P&L — driving revenue, managing costs, and building a sustainable, profitable business across events, private dining, members' workclub, and F&B.
  • Sales & commercial leadership — owning the sales pipeline, building relationships with corporate clients, planners, and private members, and identifying new revenue streams across the venue's eight spaces.
  • People & culture — recruiting, developing, and energising a diverse team across events, hospitality, F&B, and front-of-house; building a culture people are proud to be part of.
  • Guest & member experience — setting a service standard that feels effortless, personal, and unmistakably Blue Strawberry, whether it's a 450-guest House takeover or an 18-cover private dinner in the Chairman's Room.
  • Brand stewardship — protecting and elevating what makes Old Sessions House different: heritage architecture with a genuinely contemporary point of view.
  • Stakeholder relationships — working closely with landlords, stakeholder partners, suppliers, and the wider Blue Strawberry Group leadership team.

What you bring

  • Proven General Manager experience in a high-volume, multi-space events, hospitality, or hotel environment.
  • Background in private members' clubs (think Soho House, The Ned, Home House, or similar) is a genuine advantage — we want someone who understands the nuance of members vs. guests vs. corporate hire.
  • Strong commercial acumen — confident owning budgets, forecasting, and margin, not just service delivery.
  • A track record in sales leadership — comfortable being the face of the venue commercially, not just operationally.
  • Natural people leader — someone who energises a team, not just manages one; HR fundamentals (recruitment, development, performance) are second nature.
  • An eye for brand and creative detail — you notice the things guests don't consciously see but absolutely feel.
  • Calm under pressure, entrepreneurial in mindset, and genuinely excited by a building with this much personality.

Why this role, why now

  • The chance to lead one of London's most distinctive heritage venues from a position of real creative and commercial ownership.
  • Backing from a fiercely independent Group with a portfolio of prestigious UK venues and a reputation for doing things properly.
  • A genuinely varied remit — no two days (or spaces) are the same.
  • Direct exposure to Group leadership and a real seat at the table for the next chapter of Old Sessions House's story.

Sound like you? We'd love to hear from General Managers ready to bring energy, commercial edge, and genuine hospitality craft to one of London's most characterful buildings.
