The Company
This food brand is expanding rapidly with exciting plans ahead. To realise their ambitions, they need a technical superstar who has the talent to take the reins of all things under the product umbrella. This role is hybrid with 3 days in the London office and the other days WFH or at the manufacturing site. Flex will be required though.
The Role
Reporting to the Founder you will be responsible for strengthening quality, food safety and compliance across the product ranges. This will include developing and maintaining the QMS, complaints resolution and risk management. You’ll also be involved in a whole host of projects that cover NPD and EPD as well as technical/operational projects so that products stay innovative, cost effective and consumer driven. You’ll work closely with their co-manufacturer with regular visits to site, to make sure that quality standards are high and work with them on continuous improvement initiatives. The role will be varied and involve being hands on in the factory, visiting suppliers and working with colleagues at the London HQ. With the mentoring and support of their senior technical consultant, you will be able to quickly step up and be the go-to person/subject matter expert on anything and everything to do with the product. You’ll be able to quickly identify opportunities for the product and brand, whether that is from a technological, packaging or ingredient perspective.
The Person
We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious technologist with a food science/food technology degree, and a couple of years’ experience of working in a similar technical, quality and compliance role within the food industry. Experience of NPD/EPD would be highly desirable. Ideally, you’ll have gained this experience from a start-up or SME that has encouraged you to think on your feet, act with autonomy and be agile in the face of technical hurdles. You’ll also be passionate about food and consumer trends, wanting to improve products and make an impact in the market place. You’ll be HACCP Level 2 and Food Safety Level 2 qualified, are familiar with improving a Quality Management System. You’ll bring heaps of energy and enthusiasm to the role along with an inquisitive and logical mind. You will be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities, be skilled at managing multiple projects and thrive in a pacey environment.
