The Company
This is a rare opportunity to join a food brand that are standout leaders in their category with a loyal consumer following. They are ambitious and are driving company growth through investing in R&D / Innovation to stay ahead of their competitors. They have created a new role for an experienced R&D professional who can help them push the boundaries of innovation. Site based role with hybrid / WFH flexibility.
The Role
You will be a key member of the Product team, reporting to the Innovation Director, and shaping this new role to unlock the potential of the brand's manufacturing capabilities, finding creative solutions that can really drive innovation. You will collaborate with the rest of the innovation team as well as cross functionally with manufacturing and engineering teams to build a deep understanding of current equipment and production capabilities. Using this insight, you will be able to develop new processes that give rise to new / different products that align with the brand values and business ambition. With the support of the product launch team, you will conduct trials to assess feasibility / scalability of new processes and recipes as well as supporting with the commissioning of new equipment. You will ensure that all new processes are robust and reproducible as well as being commercially viable. As this is a new role, you will have the freedom to shape the approach, processes and tools whilst bringing people along on the journey to ensure collaboration and alignment across the business.
The Person
You will be an experienced R&D Process Engineer with a Degree or Masters in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field. Over your career you will have gained extensive food manufacturing knowledge across a number of different product sectors. You will know how to build an in-depth understanding of process capability and have implemented changes that have helped deliver new and differentiated products. This role will have to make a big impact in the business so you will need to be a self-starter who has heaps of technical curiosity, an analytical mindset, loves asking 'why' and is an amazing problem solver. Your happy place will be in the factory figuring out what works, what can be improved, what capabilities can be stretched so that fabulous new products can be created. You thrive working cross-functionally, can influence and inspire others, and are excited by the chance to make this role your own.
