The Company
With a mission to delight their key retailer customers with exciting own-label products, this chilled food manufacturer is looking for an ambitious Product Developer to join their creative innovation team.

The Role
You’ll report to the NPD Manager and working closely with Innovation Chefs, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering both new and evolving product ranges for major UK retailers. You’ll also have one direct report to manage and develop within the team.

In this hands-on role, you’ll contribute to the full NPD and EPD lifecycle, from concept development to customer submission and factory handover. You’ll create and manage detailed product documentation, benchmark competitor products, and ensure concepts are aligned with production and packing capabilities. Your involvement will also extend to supporting factory trials, ensuring consistency between kitchen samples and full-scale production.

You’ll provide insightful, practical input to chef concepts, helping shape commercially viable products without compromising creativity. Your responsibilities will include calculating nutritional data using retailer tools, preparing customer-facing documents across all stages of development, and liaising with suppliers to gather key technical and commercial information. You’ll also compile feasibility meeting documentation, co-ordinate internal approvals before submissions, and represent the business at customer presentations or benchmarking sessions when needed. Additionally, you’ll assist with pre-productions and launches, as well as support the team with sample creation and ingredient sourcing.

The Person
We are looking for an ambitious and creative NPD Technologist or Product Developer, ideally with a food related degree, who thrives in a fast-paced chilled food environment. Previous food manufacturing experience is required, within any product sector supplying the UK retailers, but ideally a creative product area.

You will be able to adapt quickly, juggle multiple projects with ease, and demonstrate a strong passion for food and innovation. Hands-on, energetic, and organised, you’ll be excited to contribute to a fast-moving and innovative team.

Your communication skills will be second to none as you will be liaising with stakeholders at all levels as well as customers.
