Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the urology department for a highly motivated and patient-centred individual to join the urology nursing team. The successful candidate will work closely with the urology medical team in supporting patients on the \’Urology cold site\’. They will also provide support to wards or departments for patients requiring specialist urological interventions/treatments.
The candidate should be an effective communicator and able to work within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out clinical examinations of patients attending Emergency Department or Surgical Assessment Unit, including physical examination of urology systems, and presenting findings to the urology consultant or registrar.
- Working autonomously to deliver specialist urological care or advice, acting as a key link between wards/departments and primary care.
- Providing evidence-based care or advice for urology patients referred via ePurple, alongside the consultant of the week and senior middle grades.
- Running nurse-led follow-up clinics to review patients and help with admission avoidance.
- Providing education for HHFT staff and medical students as part of the urology team.
