Job Overview
We are seeking an Audiology Apprentice to join our enthusiastic team at Hampshire Hospital Foundation Trust. This is a four-year, fully funded Level 6 Healthcare Science Apprenticeship in Audiology at Aston University, offering a competitive salary and valuable practical experience.
Upon completion, you will earn a BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science (Audiology) degree and an Apprenticeship Certificate, qualifying you to apply for band 5 positions. The role involves working across various clinical settings, including hospitals operated by the trust.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine pure tone audiometry, tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing, and otoacoustic emissions.
- Conduct clinics for patients referred for hearing assessments and hearing aid fittings.
- Explain test results to patients, using effective communication methods suited to individual needs.
- Assist in audiological rehabilitative procedures, including hearing aid selection, fitting, verification, and evaluation.
- Maintain and repair hearing aids and ear moulds, including re-tubing and reshaping.
- Examine ears using otoscopy to identify pathologies or contraindications.
- Take accurate aural impressions, adapting techniques as necessary.
