Technical Project Manager – Power Systems Engineering

Focus:
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through the entire lifecycle of high-voltage infrastructure projects, from concept to close-out.
Supervise the planning and deployment of control and protective relaying systems for electrical substations ranging from 15kV to 500kV.
Create and manage project plans using Gantt-based tools such as MS Project to monitor timelines, resources, and deliverables.
Develop scopes of work, maintain accurate project documentation, and ensure alignment with quality and compliance standards.
Monitor project budgets at both task and portfolio levels, adjusting timelines or resources to maintain efficiency and performance.
Act as the central communication point for internal stakeholders, clients, and vendors to ensure expectations and deadlines are met.
Support procurement activities and material planning for electrical and substation systems.
Report project financials and health metrics to internal leadership on a recurring basis.
Guide and mentor engineering staff through informal leadership, fostering technical growth and excellence.
Collaborate with internal operations teams to align workforce planning with project delivery needs.
Skill Set:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
2+ years of project management experience focused on substation design or power delivery projects.
Strong preference for prior hands-on technical experience in P&C engineering or relay design.
Familiarity with relay protection, one-lines, three-lines, schematics, SCADA systems, and related substation documentation.
Proficiency with MS Project and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Understanding of project financial controls and budgeting practices.
PMP certification or formal PM training is a plus.
PE license preferred but not required.
Must be located within the U.S. and authorized to work without sponsorship.
Ability to travel domestically up to 25% for client and team engagements.
