Focus:
- Serve as the technical lead on substation protection and control (P&C) design projects from concept through execution.
- Deliver high-quality engineering packages, including: one-line and three-line diagrams, protection schematics, wiring drawings, relay panel layouts, conduit/cable sizing, and detailed bills of material.
- Design and optimize auxiliary AC/DC power systems, SCADA interfaces, and communication architectures.
- Conduct system calculations including relay burden, battery sizing, short circuit analysis, voltage drop, and load tabulation to ensure robust and reliable design performance.
- Perform relay coordination studies and develop protection settings tailored to each application.
- Oversee integration of control, protection, and monitoring systems across substations and transmission facilities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, drafters, project managers, and clients to meet project goals.
- Lead quality reviews of peer design packages and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Conduct on-site walkdowns and contribute to scoping and field engineering efforts.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and knowledge-sharing across project stages.
Skill Set:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- EIT required; PE license strongly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in high-voltage (15-500kV) substation protection and control design.
- Proven expertise in relay logic, SCADA integration, and system protection.
- Deep understanding of substation lifecycle from conceptual design to commissioning.
- Strong communicator with a team-first mindset and a commitment to technical excellence.
- Passion for mentoring and a knack for coaching less experienced engineers.
