About Yorkshire Helicopters

Yorkshire Helicopters is a CAA Approved Training Organisation based at Leeds East Airport, approximately 8 miles south-west of York. We provide helicopter flight training from PPL(H) through to CPL(H), with a strong focus on developing safe, proficient pilots who are prepared for the realities of flying beyond just passing the skills test. Our training is delivered primarily on the Robinson R44 by a small team led by highly experienced instructor/examiners, in a professional and supportive environment. We work with a mixture of recreational and career-focused students and take pride in providing high-quality training that starts with the first lesson and continues throughout their flying journey.

The Role

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a qualified FI(H) to join our instructional team. Initially, the role will involve delivering PPL(H) training on the Robinson R44, supporting students to develop the skills, confidence and judgement required to become safe and capable helicopter pilots. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team that values professionalism, constructive instruction and a strong safety culture. As experience and operational requirements allow, there will be opportunities to expand training activities onto the B206 JetRanger and progression towards CPL(H) training. The role is available on either a part-time or full-time basis. Candidates would ideally be available for at least two days per week on an ongoing basis.

What We're Looking For

  • Passionate about helicopter training and student development
  • Professional, approachable and safety-focused
  • Calm, supportive and constructive in their teaching style
  • Able to work effectively within a small, close-knit team
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of instructional quality and professionalism

Essential Requirements

  • UK CAA FI(H) Certificate
  • Robinson R44 Type Rating
  • English language proficiency
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Ability and willingness to travel to Leeds East Airport
  • Availability for at least two days per week

We Will Also Consider Restricted Flight Instructors looking to develop their instructional experience within a supportive training environment.

Why Join Yorkshire Helicopters?

  • Work within a professional CAA Approved Training Organisation
  • Teach motivated students ranging from private pilots to future commercial aviators
  • Strong emphasis on safety, proficiency and instructional quality
  • Friendly and supportive team culture
  • Opportunities for professional development and progression
  • A growing track record of producing capable pilots, with former students progressing into commercial training and professional flying roles

If you're passionate about helicopters and flight training, enjoy developing people, and want to be part of a training organisation that puts safety and professionalism first with a proven track record, we'd love to hear from you. To apply or find out more, please send your CV and a brief introduction outlining your instructional experience and availability to help us develop the next generation of helicopter pilots.
