A high-growth, multi-site organisation is looking for a Commercial Analyst to join its FP&A team. This is one of those roles where you’re not just producing numbers, you’re shaping decisions. The output lands with senior leaders, working with many of them as a business partner, and regularly informs board-level conversations, so it suits someone who likes their work to actually go somewhere.
You’ll be the person who can look at a tangle of operational activity and translate it into clear commercial insight. What’s driving revenue? Where is margin leaking? Are we resourcing in line with demand? And when someone asks what happens if we change X?, you’ll have a model (and a point of view) ready.
What you’ll be doing:
- Turning operational and financial data into insight on revenue performance, labour efficiency, utilisation/capacity, and OpEx drivers.
- Building and refining a set of commercial KPIs that leaders can trust and use (no more debates about definitions).
- Creating business cases and scenario models to support investment decisions and big initiatives, then tracking ROI afterwards to see what really landed.
- Answering what if questions around pricing, wage pressure, staffing mix, utilisation shifts, new site impacts, and operational or policy changes.
- Producing Tableau dashboards and reporting that focus on drivers and actions, not just a rear-view summary.
- Working closely with operational stakeholders, presenting findings clearly, and helping teams understand the commercial levers they can pull.
Tools, data, and the reality of it:
You’ll need to be strong in Excel (proper modelling, not just spreadsheets) and confident with Tableau. Data won’t always arrive perfectly packaged, so being comfortable with a bit of wrangling and sense-checking is important. If you enjoy improving reporting and making things cleaner over time, you’ll probably like this.
Experience needed:
- Commercial analytics experience in FP&A / Commercial Finance / Finance Business Partnering
- Strong Excel modelling (driver-based models, scenarios, sensitivities, clean structure)
- Experience building business cases and tracking outcomes (ROI/payback, benefits realisation)
- Comfortable analysing revenue and cost drivers, ideally with exposure to labour/efficiency or operational drivers
- Tableau experience building dashboards that answer commercial questions
- Confident partnering with senior stakeholders and landing insights clearly
- Happy working with imperfect data and improving reporting/processes over time
