  • Introduce the association, its history, values, benefits and membership opportunities.
  • Confidently communicate the value of membership and tailor conversations to individual interests.
  • Convert prospective members into paying members through effective sales conversations and follow-up.
  • Build rapport and develop lasting relationships with prospective and existing members.
  • Manage your sales pipeline, ensuring opportunities are followed up professionally and efficiently.

  • Maintain accurate records of conversations, leads and membership conversions.
  • Represent the association professionally, acting as an ambassador for its heritage and reputation.

About You

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, engaging and naturally confident when speaking with people. You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a telephone-based sales, membership sales, telesales or business development role.
  • A proven ability to convert warm leads into sales.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A confident and persuasive telephone manner.
  • A target-driven mindset with the motivation to maximise earning potential.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
  • A professional, personable and enthusiastic approach.
  • Experience in membership sales would be advantageous, although we are equally interested in commercially minded salespeople with the right attitude and ability.

What's on Offer?

  • £30,000 basic annual salary.
  • Generous commission structure with excellent earning potential.
  • Warm, interested prospects – no reliance on traditional cold calling.
  • The opportunity to represent an established historical association and guild.
  • A supportive, office-based working environment in Sussex.
  • The opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the growth and development of a historic organisation.

The Ideal Candidate

This position would suit a motivated sales professional who enjoys speaking to people, spotting opportunities and closing deals. You will be comfortable having engaging conversations, building trust and confidently asking for the sale. If you are commercially minded, enjoy working towards targets and want to combine a rewarding sales career with representing an organisation with a fascinating history and purpose, we would love to hear from you.
