Blue Owl seeks a Vice President or Principal to join the Legal team in London, supporting the Real Assets vertical and liaising with Legal & Compliance and Real Assets Investment teams. The role provides legal counsel to the Real Estate platform's Investment, Asset Management and Finance teams. The ideal candidate is detailâoriented, organized, and experienced in realâestate transactions outside the US or in realâestate management platforms.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts including property management agreements, audit/tax engagements, referral agreements, consulting engagements, and related statements of work.
- Manage a high volume of nonâdisclosure agreements and other commercial contracts in coordination with external counsel.
- Manage propertyâlevel litigation tendered to tenants in coordination with external counsel.
- Act as liaison between Blue Owl Real Estate teams and external legal counsel.
- Develop strong working relationships and partnerships with other teams to support client needs.
- Ensure that all Legal team records are stored in secure, organized file systems to support shared knowledge and compliant recordâkeeping.
- Perform special projects and other responsibilities for the Legal team.
- Coordinate signatures for documents and various materials.
- Lead and execute real estate transactions, including crossâborder deals and international property acquisitions.
- Provide strategic legal guidance on complex international real estate matters.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure compliance with international regulations and transaction requirements.
- Lead negotiation of key commercial legal matters with transaction counterparties on deals.
- Work with investment team to manage European new market entry for jurisdictions previously untransacted (i.e., understanding of legal frameworks and investment structures for various European jurisdictions).
Qualifications
- 7â8+ years of experience at a major law firm or inâhouse legal department working on real estate transactions and real estate management issues.
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Demonstrated drive for results and ability to prioritize risks and projects in a fastâpaced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Excellent planning and organization skills; meticulous attention to detail is a must.
- Strong working knowledge of Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to roll up sleeves to get things done.
- Team player with enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity to learn more.
