Blue Owl is looking for a Vice President or Principal to join the Legal team. This role will be based in London and provide support for the Real Assets vertical while liaising with members of the Legal & Compliance and Real Assets Investment teams. The candidate will provide legal counsel to the Real Estate platform's Investment, Asset Management and Finance teams.

The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented and organized individual who can manage multiple projects and who is excited about supporting a dynamic and fast-paced business unit. We are looking for candidates who have had prior experience supporting real estate transactions, particularly those outside the US, or real estate management platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts including property management agreements, audit/tax engagements, referral agreements, consulting engagements, and related statements of work.
  • Manage a high volume of non-disclosure agreements and other commercial contracts in coordination with external counsel.
  • Manage property-level litigation tendered to tenants in coordination with external counsel.
  • Act as liaison between Blue Owl Real Estate teams and external legal counsel.
  • Develop strong working relationships and partnerships with other teams to support client needs.
  • Ensure that all Legal team records are stored in secure, organized file systems to support shared knowledge and compliant record-keeping.
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities for the Legal team.
  • Coordinate signatures for documents and various materials.
  • Lead and execute real estate transactions, including cross-border deals and international property acquisitions.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance on complex international real estate matters.
  • Collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure compliance with international regulations and transaction requirements.
  • Lead negotiation of key commercial legal matters with transaction counterparties on deals.
  • Work with investment team to manage European new market entry for jurisdictions we have not previously transacted in (i.e. understanding of legal frameworks and investment structures for various European jurisdictions).

Qualifications:

  • 7-8+ years of experience at a major law firm or in-house legal department working on real estate transactions and real estate management issues.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Demonstrated drive for results and ability to prioritize risks and projects to focus on what's important in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills; meticulous attention to detail is a must.
  • Strong working knowledge of Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to roll up sleeves to get things done.
  • Team player with enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity to learn more.
