Friends of the Elderly (FotE) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to providing excellent care with a family feel. We have been supporting older people for over 100 years. The charity provides care home and day care services for older people, as well as grants for older people in financial difficulty.

Redcot, specialising in residential care, is located in the delightful town of Haslemere, Surrey. Overlooking beautiful gardens and surrounded by countryside, much of which is owned by the National Trust, Redcot is blessed with a tranquil setting.

Joining our dedicated team as a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for delivering person-centred care, tailored to each individual. Your role will involve supporting and enabling our residents to maintain key skills, personal interests, independence, choice, and dignity, so they can lead fulfilled lives.

  • You will ensure our residents are safe and comfortable.

  • You will act as a champion for their safety and dignity.

  • You will lead the team in providing quality, individualised care in line with procedures and policies.

  • You will ensure that clear, accurate records are maintained.

  • You will follow procedures for ordering, administering, and dispensing medication.

  • You will conduct supervisions and appraisals with staff and promote their development.

  • You will maintain a safe, clean workplace and follow infection control protocols.

Our shift patterns include evenings, weekends, and some unsociable hours to ensure we can achieve this.

To succeed in this role, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with residents and effectively hand over information to colleagues. Digital skills, problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and safeguarding awareness are also essential.

As a Shift Leader, no two days are the same. You will have at least 2 years’ experience in a care setting, ideally in a senior role, and be comfortable administering medication. A compassionate nature, positive attitude, and initiative are vital. An NVQ Level 3 in health and social care and leadership training are desirable but not essential.
