We are seeking an experienced Site Engineering and Maintenance Manager to lead the departmental operations at our Hams Hall facility which operates on a 24/7 basis.

Key role requirements follow which are not exhaustive:

  • Ensuring that the site assets are operated efficiently and are maintained to high standards.

  • To manage all aspects of engineering and maintenance, on- site, including the co-ordination of unplanned events and follow up activities, planning and co-ordination of internal and contractor works including the weekly maintenance and annual shutdowns. This will involve a level of availability for ‘out-of-hours’ and weekend events.

  • The management and development of the departments technicians and support staff to ensure that, via personal development plans and coaching, employee competencies align with current and future operational needs.

  • Ensure operations internally and with engineering contractors and suppliers are executed in compliance with SHEQ standards.

  • Financial budget development and spend control including stores management, spares and repairs control, headcount management, overtime control, capex paper development, justification and spend compliance.

  • Development of the CMMS to improve work planning, data collection and analysis, performance management, labour deployment, technician led intervention.

  • Development of a continuous improvement culture to raise the departments effectiveness, contribution and service provision which will include breakdown response, irreversible countermeasure implementation, greater autonomy, and self-driven improvement.

  • Liaison with external and internal stakeholders to support areas such as health and safety, legislative compliance, site and product development projects and general Forterra led initiatives across all disciplines.

  • A commitment to personal development is essential to adapt and meet the evolving demands of the role.

You will be comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on involvement, leading from the front to drive performance, enhance reliability and ensure compliance across all engineering and maintenance activities and you will strive to ensures tasks are seen through to successful completion with efficiency and appropriate speed.

You will have proven managerial experience within an engineering and maintenance function and be able to demonstrate competence across the full spectrum of role requirements. A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline is essential, along with formal management training and /or a proven track record in supervisory roles.

You will be an effective communicator with the ability to establish effective working relationships across the organisation at all levels. The role requires proven resource management skills and the ability to deliver improvement projects in a structured manner. A H&S qualification is desirable, highlighting our commitment to safety in the workplace.
