Overview (1-3 days a week) The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a Sessional Lecturer in Barbering to teach courses across a range of levels and to be a personal tutor on the courses in this curriculum area. The courses are predominantly coursework based and therefore we seek an innovative practitioner to design engaging coursework assignments that inspire learners. Following our agreed schemes of work, assessment schedules and student monitoring procedures are an essential component of this work and you'll be involved in internal verification activities and organise and take part in external verification.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses across a range of levels and act as a personal tutor on the courses in this curriculum area.
- Design engaging coursework assignments that inspire learners; follow agreed schemes of work, assessment schedules and student monitoring procedures; be involved in internal verification activities and organise and take part in external verification.
- Monitor learner progress; support, motivate and empathise with young learners.
- Use new technologies to enhance teaching and learning; work hard and be flexible with high personal standards and expectations; plan, prepare, organise and administer effectively; work under pressure to agreed deadlines; be receptive to new ideas and initiatives; approach problems creatively; work effectively as an individual and as a team to achieve targets.
Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in barbering including face shaving and massage services with recent barbering industrial experience.
- Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards) and excellent teaching skills in Barbering.
- Ability to support, motivate and empathise with young learners, including monitoring their progress.
