At Bright Futures, we believe every person with autism or a learning disability deserves the chance to thrive. We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our specialist home in St Helens, to provide high-quality care and life‑enriching opportunities to the people we support.
Our St Helens residential service is a fully detached, five‑bed home just a 10‑minute walk from the town centre. It provides a calm, structured setting where five adults receive personalised 2:1 support, tailored to their individual needs and daily routines. The individuals we support are mostly non‑verbal and have a range of conditions, including autism, Down syndrome, and epilepsy. They enjoy varied activities such as sensory sessions, swimming, indoor skydiving at the Trafford Centre, community centre involvement, and college placements.
Staff play an important role in offering encouragement, supporting engagement, and assisting individuals with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, so they can participate fully and comfortably in their routines. As a Support Worker, you will be a key part of a young person or adult's support team, listening to their wishes, planning meaningful activities, championing their communication goals and keeping meticulous records. You will help to create a warm, stimulating environment whilst working a mix of day shifts and sleeps to meet individual needs. You’ll do more than provide care – you’ll be a mentor, advocate, and source of encouragement, helping the people you support to achieve their own individual outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide person‑centred care and support tailored to individual needs
- Build trusting relationships and support emotional and behavioural needs using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, medication, and household tasks
- Promote independence and choice, encouraging the people we support to make their own decisions wherever possible
- Support with day‑to‑day activities to ensure the people we support make the most of every opportunity
Qualifications and Experience
No formal qualifications are required for this role, but we are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about person‑centred care
- Resilient and tenacious
- Positive and proactive
- Enthusiastic with a willingness to learn
- Has strong teamwork and communication skills
Experience in care is beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided. Full UK Driving Licence is advantageous.

£32,046.55 - £32,489.74 (based on experience and 1 sleep‑in per week)
