At Bright Futures, we believe every person with autism or a learning disability deserves the chance to thrive. We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our specialist home in St Helens, to provide high-quality care and life-enriching opportunities to the people we support.

Our home in St Helens is a quiet residential setting with easy access to local parks, green spaces, shops and community amenities. It offers a calm, welcoming environment where individuals can feel comfortable and supported. The home currently supports one individual and will soon welcome two more, making this an important period of transition. Staff help residents settle in, establish routines and take part in meaningful activities that reflect their interests and preferences. The focus is on creating a positive, person-centred environment where individuals can thrive.

As a Support Worker, you will be a key part of a young person or adult's support team, listening to their wishes, planning meaningful activities, championing their communication goals and keeping meticulous records. You will help to create a warm, stimulating environment whilst working a mix of day shifts and sleeps to meet individual needs. You’ll do more than provide care – you’ll be a mentor, advocate, and source of encouragement, helping the people you support to achieve their own individual outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred care and support tailored to individual needs
  • Build trusting relationships and support emotional and behavioural needs using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
  • Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, medication, and household tasks
  • Promote independence and choice, encouraging the people we support to make their own decisions wherever possible
  • Support day-to-day activities to ensure the people we support make the most of every opportunity

What we’re looking for

  • Passionate about person-centred care
  • Resilient and tenacious
  • Positive and proactive
  • Enthusiastic with a willingness to learn
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Experience in care is beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided. A Full UK Driving Licence is advantageous.

Salary & Benefits

  • £32,046.55 - £32,489.74 (based on experience and 1 sleep-in per week)
  • Skills Based Pay – the more skills and qualifications you gain, the greater the reward
  • Clearly defined career pathways with plenty of opportunities to progress
  • Healthcare Cashback (dental, optical, physio, wellbeing)
  • Care Friends Referral rewards up to £2000
  • Bright Stars scheme & Employee of the Month awards
  • Free Meals on Shift
  • Life Assurance Policy 2x salary
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Holiday entitlement increasing with each year of service

Safeguarding & Application

Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Satisfactory references are also required. Our recruitment process is designed to ensure alignment with our values and the behaviours required to be successful in this role. It will include:

  • Values Based Interview – explore how your personal values align with Bright Futures culture
  • Competency Questions – provide examples of your skills and experience related to the role’s key behaviours and competencies

Unfortunately, sponsorship is not available for this role.
