About the Role
This is a standalone position, offering you full responsibility for managing all aspects of payroll from start to finish. You’ll be trusted as the go-to expert for everything payroll-related — from processing and compliance to reporting and continuous improvement.
Your key responsibilities will include:
*
Managing the end-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
*
Maintaining and updating employee payroll records and ensuring data accuracy
*
Ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations and current legislation
*
Managing PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, benefits, and statutory payments
*
Handling queries and discrepancies swiftly and professionally
*
Producing reports and analysis for finance and management teams
*
Leading year-end activities, including P60s, P11Ds, and reconciliations
About You
You’ll be a confident and capable payroll professional with a proven track record of managing payroll independently. You’ll bring:
*
Significant end-to-end payroll experience, ideally within a standalone role
*
Strong knowledge of HMRC legislation, pensions administration, and statutory requirements
*
Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and problem-solving skills
*
Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
*
The ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
This role requires someone who can work autonomously, take initiative, and ensure processes run smoothly without supervision. Your expertise will be key to maintaining accuracy, compliance, and employee trust.
What’s on Offer
In return, you’ll join a supportive organisation where your contribution will be valued and visible. You’ll have the freedom to shape and manage the payroll function, along with opportunities for ongoing professional development. Due to weekly payroll commitments it is necessary for your hours to include longer days Monday & Tuesday with shorter days the rest of the week.
If you’re ready to step into a senior, hands-on role where your payroll expertise truly makes an impact, we’d love to hear from you
