We are seeking a PMO Intern to assist our project management office on a high-priority engagement for a leading UK financial services group. In this role, you will help coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and manage administrative details to ensure our deliverables run efficiently and remain on schedule.
About Blue Oak Consulting
Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We investigate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narratives are not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate jargon and complex accounting structures to find where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across multiple sectors to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold up under scrutiny. We are a small, principal‑led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not participate in transaction‑contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a client decision make sense.
About the role
This position is an entry‑level pathway into structural project tracking and commercial advisory. Working in a hybrid capacity, you will support our consulting team both through focused administrative tasks and structured coordination sessions. You will help build and maintain the project management framework for the engagement, ensuring we track dependencies, log critical items, and deliver quality work in collaboration with the wider team.
What you will be doing:
- Updating project schedules and logging key action points from planning sessions.
- Organizing project datasets and tracking progress across several distinct workstreams.
- Assisting in the preparation of weekly status dashboards and administrative reports for the engagement leads.
- Reviewing client documentation to extract timeline commitments and milestone dates.
- Maintaining our document management system so that evidence and analysis are easily auditable.
- Documenting operational risks and tracking mitigation steps alongside our project leaders.
What we need from you:
- A university degree or current enrollment in business, economics, finance, or a related field.
- Strong capability with spreadsheets, including clean formatting and basic formulas.
- High attention to detail, especially when checking project dates, status updates, and action tracking logs.
- A direct and clear communication style, both in writing and in regular update sessions.
- Adaptability and a practical work style suited to a structured hybrid office and home routine.
- An inquisitive mind that appreciates order, clarity, and systematic verification over assumption.
What the role offers:
- Attractive and competitive pay for an internship role in this market.
- A balanced hybrid working policy that lets you build corporate relationships in person while maintaining personal flexibility.
- Direct mentorship and regular contact with our firm's senior partners rather than layers of middle management.
- Practical experience in structured project coordination on a complex corporate advisory engagement.
- Exposure to real commercial data and actual financial decisions, bypassing generic training simulations.
At Blue Oak Consulting, we believe clarity is the foundation of sound business decisions. We value people who are methodical, honest, and comfortable looking past the surface level to ensure everything is in order. This role is a practical, rigorous starting point for anyone looking to build a career in project management or corporate advisory.
