Job Overview

Blue Mountain Homes has been working since 2002 to ‘reach out and change lives’. We operate Residential Children’s Homes and Independent Schools across the UK and are currently looking for dynamic youth mentors to engage, guide, and positively influence the young people in our care.

Training and qualifications will be provided. The most important quality we look for is a commitment and a desire to bring about positive change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Helping to create a positive environment for each young person, with particular reference to their safety, health and education.
  • Helping to carry the home’s ethos and values through to the young people and represent Blue Mountain Homes as professionals.
  • Maintaining good professional practices in accordance with Ofsted Regulations and the Quality Care Standards for children’s homes.
  • Engaging in the effective delivery of residential childcare in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Being accountable to the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of residential childcare experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of working with young people with mild to moderate learning disabilities, including Autism, ADHD and non‑verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of Makaton or PECs desirable.
  • Manual UK/EU driving licence (required).
  • Valid work authorisation for the UK (required).

Shift Information

Shift patterns are on a rolling rota basis. Shift hours are 08:00 am to 23:00 pm per shift, and days of work may vary week to week. Sleep‑in shifts are required.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: £34,320 – £36,088 per annum (£65 per sleep included). Salary is dependent on qualifications and undertaking eight sleeps per month.
