Since 2002, Blue Mountain Homes has been ‘reaching out and changing lives’. We operate residential children’s homes and independent schools across the UK, caring for children and young people up to 18 years old. We are looking for dynamic youth mentors who are enthusiastic about engaging, guiding and positively influencing the lives of the young people in our care. A commitment to creating positive change in the lives of children is essential, and training will be provided. Applicants must already hold the Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Residential Care and have experience working in a children’s home.

Responsibilities

  • Help create a positive environment for each young person with reference to their safety, health and education.
  • Promote the home’s ethos and values and represent Blue Mountain Homes professionally.
  • Maintain professional practices in accordance with Ofsted regulations and the Quality Care Standards for children’s homes.
  • Engage in the effective delivery of residential childcare in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Work on the floor alongside residential care workers and the young people.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of residential child care experience (preferred).
  • Manual UK/EU driving licence (required).
  • Availability to work a rolling rota schedule, including nights and sleep shifts.
  • Commitment to safer recruitment and enhanced DBS checks.

Shift Patterns, Hours & Salary

The role follows a rolling rota basis with hours from 07:30am to 23:00pm per shift. Sleep in shifts is essential. Salary is up to £40,496 (inclusive of £60 per sleep) and is dependent on experience, qualifications and the number of sleeps per month.
