THE COMPANY Lyndon SGB are the UK’s largest commercial scaffolding and access solutions provider with a network of branches in most major UK cities. JOB PURPOSE: As Commercial Quantity Surveyor you will support contractual management of the commercial business ensuring that the business remains compliant. Supporting the delivery of projects on both a framework basis and individually procured. Identifying potential issues with delivery or a breach of contract that resorts in an increased cost. Please note: we can be flexible on base location subject to willingness to travel as and when required. KEY PRIORITIES * Achievement of sales and financial targets. Optimising the opportunity to achieve or exceed revenue and profit margins, through securing contracts at the optimum award level. * Building and maintaining key relationships with customers, providing high levels of customer service. * Compliance with Company policies and procedures. * Deliver project controls services, taking responsibility for end-to-end service delivery. * Lead the establishments of the overall success criteria for the contract, including time, cost, and performance parameters. * Implement effective project governance, processes, and systems throughout the project lifecycle. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Ensure tenders are followed up with contractors to maximise probability of obtaining targeted contracts. * Monitor the mix of job values to meet the branch order targets. Redress any imbalance to ensure targets are achieved at minimum. * Review quotes and devise a strategy to strengthen the company’s position for each quote. * Support Branch teams in in monitoring and reporting on market pricing and competitor activity. * Evaluate reasons for lost bids and report as required. * Attend negotiations and pre-contract handover meetings. * Liaise with the operations teams on technical and operational requirements. Provide briefings to the operations team, and any information required once the job has commenced. * Assist in setting the project budget and be involved in assembling the project team and setting task schedules. * Have the ability to recognise which areas of project development need to be addressed in order to maintain efficiency and cost control. Present ideas to the Commercial & Operations Director and assume the responsibility for implementing and managing these changes in the project management cycle in conjunction with the Branch based QS. * Ensure that all documentation is completed accurately and to the agreed timescales. * Assist with financial month end reporting. * Ensure contract and commercial processes are adhered to. * Identify opportunities for variations to the contract. KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Support the Commercial & Operations Director as well as the National Accounts team or Regional / Branch Manager. Liaising closely with colleagues in the administration, design, operations, and central management teams. External: Key customer contacts WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? * A proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor or similar. * Experience working within the commercial scaffolding sector. * Strong contractual management experience. * Flexible to travel to UK wide branches as and when required
