Our client is a global outsourcing provider of integrated supply chain services associated with maintenance, repair and overhaul activities in large manufacturing facilities. They partner with leading multinational organisations, providing expert on-site solutions and fostering strong relationships with both clients and suppliers through effective communication and exceptional service. Currently, they are looking for an experienced Buyer to join their team in the UK. Please note that the role is fully remote.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and procuring engineering, facility, and manufacturing spare parts and services, negotiating optimal commercial terms, and driving cost reduction initiatives in a customer-facing, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:- Respond to purchase requisitions for ad-hoc (spot buy) and inventory-controlled items in a timely manner
- Source and procure engineering, facilities, and manufacturing equipment, spare parts and services
- Raise and process purchase orders accurately within the company system
- Expedite order deliveries and maintain up-to-date delivery promise dates in the system
- Ensure on-time delivery of goods through effective supplier monitoring and performance management
- Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives through price negotiations or approved product substitutions
- Track and report cost savings accurately within the company system
- Resolve non-conforming delivery issues and coordinate returns for credit or replacement
- Must be fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
- Good knowledge of engineering, maintenance, and factory consumables product groups
- Experience working within a demanding manufacturing environment where continuity of production is critical
- Knowledge of and practical experience with INCOTERMS
- Good understanding of domestic and European supply chains for engineering, maintenance, and factory consumables
- Strong negotiating skills
- Ability to source both current production and obsolete products effectively
- Proven ability to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, including price reductions, approved product substitutions, and product standardisation
- Articulate, numerate, and system-literate
- Knowledge of inventory control processes
